Tue - Sat 10:00am - 4:30pm
We are closed on Sundays and Mondays

Emmaus Village Calrton is a homeless charity based in North Bedfordshire offering active support to formerly homeless people and we provide what we think of as a real workable alternative to homelessness. Our site is located in Carlton, Bedfordshire ten miles from Bedford and also right on the border of Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, less than 20 miles from Milton Keynes.

	We offer a home. At Emmaus, homeless people find a place where they can enjoy companionship and support. Each person has their own room whilst living in the Community.When a Companion wants to move on, he or she will be assisted to find accommodation and work.
	We offer work. All Companions (residents) work full-time and there is work for everyone. The Shops and Bistro provide a commercial setting where skills can be learnt in a friendly atmosphere.

The Dovecote Project - A New Venture at Emmaus Village Carlton

As part of Emmaus Village Carlton's ongoing commitment to tackling poverty in Bedfordshire we are aiming to expand our facilities substantially over the next 12 - 18 months, hence: "The Dovecote Project" an innovative £1.1 Million Development.

Our special guest Terry Waite, President of Emmaus UK, will officially open Silverbirches, our additional new home for companions. He will also launch the refurbishment of the furniture/warehouse, known as the ‘The Dovecote Project.’

Guidelines for donated goods:

Emmaus is a Re-Use (through resale) organisation and a recycler of paper, textiles and metals. We attempt to accept all donations covering a wide range of items however we cannot accept everything. Below is a list of the main requirements for donated items.

Items must first and foremost be clean and in a saleable condition or be a material we recycle.
Items must be complete and functioning, as we do not repair or replace missing parts.
Furniture that is upholstered (including mattresses and soft furnishings) must have a current fire label attached.
Electrical items must be no older than 10 years.
Electrical items such as TVs and Video/DVD players must have a remote control and at least one scart socket.
We do not accept computer monitors or printers on their own.
We do not accept young infant items (e.g. prams, buggies, cots, car seats, play pens and high chairs).
We do not accept office equipment of any kind.

If you are unsure as to whether your donations are suitable please speak to a member of staff. Remember, it might be recyclable.
